There’s No Substitute for Experience
“Every battle is won before it is ever fought,” wrote the ancient Chinese general Sun Tzu in The Art of War.
A legendary military strategist and philosopher, Sun Tzu’s influence can still be felt today. He developed various models that continue to inspire not only military personnel, but leaders across industries, such as leading by example and boosting confidence by creating optimal work environments. He emphasized preparation as the key to victory and recognized that there was no substitute for experience.
As an organizational design consultant, ePM helps companies identify ways to accelerate performance. Application Experience (AE), which refers to the number of times an individual has done the work for an assigned position, can have a major impact on project organization performance. For example, using our proprietary software SimVision, we found that a company could increase their organizational performance by up to 15% when hiring employees with high AE over average AE.
We applied this to our Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) project modeling and simulation scenarios and determined that AE is one of the key components to improving results. It helps drive down costs, keeps projects on schedule and reduces risk factors.
Unfortunately, AE is hard to come by for AWP because the practice is relatively new and still developing across industries. To get the most reliable outcomes, it may be in your best interest to turn to an experienced consultant who has guided multiple AWP projects across a variety of industries, clients, and project types.
This is where ePM can help. We bring organizational experience and expertise when it comes to determining AWP scenarios and readiness, so that you can gain confidence in your AWP decision-making. ePM will also support your AWP implementation of new work processes and technologies.
